The aim of this paper is to explain the classification of inspection. Inspection activities include the supervision of maritime facilities. Classification is the creation of independent technical standards for ships and the verification of compliance with these standards throughout the ship's (intlreg.org) lifetime. The purpose of the classification rules is to ensure safety against possible dangers for the ship, personnel, passengers and cargo, and also cover issues related to the environment as a consequence of maritime transport. Classification societies are organizations that develop and apply technical standards for the design, construction and inspection of ships and that conduct inspections and inspections on ships. States may authorize classification societies to act on their behalf to carry out the statutory inspection and certification of their ships. There are more than 50 classification societies in the world, but only 11 classification societies are currently recognized by the European Union. This recognition enables them to act asrecognized organizations on behalf of EU member states. In the Republic of Croatia, classification work is performed by the Croatian Ship Register, which is an associate member of the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS)
